ECHS Strikers Team Placement Policy\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

Team Placement<\/b><\/p>

Players will be placed on the team that corresponds with their age group at the beginning of the season. During the first few weeks of the season, coaches can assess needs of the team and player abilities. We will have players play on the age-appropriate team as much as possible. If it seems that a player should play up, that decision will be made by the parents, board, and both coaches together. Players may not play down without asking for an exemption to rules from the state.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0Questions to consider:<\/span><\/p>

  • \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Will playing in a different age group jeopardize player safety?<\/span><\/li>
  • \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Why are we moving the player?<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

    –<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Is it best for the player because they have maximized their opportunities to grow on the age-appropriate team or because they have special needs that make it appropriate to play on a younger team?<\/span><\/p>

    – Do we need them to fill places on another team because the roster is not full?<\/span><\/p>

    –<\/span>Do we need to avoid having the player be the only boy\/girl on the team?<\/span><\/p>

    -Is it beneficial to dual roster the player based on team needs?<\/p>

    -If dual rostered which team is primary?<\/p>

    • \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>How will moving the player affect both of the teams involved?<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

      When there are enough players to have two teams in an age division, the players will be divided into competitive and developmental teams according to the following criteria.<\/span><\/p>

      • Age: Is a consideration with team placement.<\/span><\/li>
      • Maturity: Players who demonstrate willingness to play any position, to put others first, to say things that build the team up, and to give respect to officials, opponents, teammates, and coaches<\/span><\/li>
      • Experience: Players have the ability to see the whole field, find formations, and make decisions that utilize the whole team well.<\/span><\/li>
      • Skill: Players have the ability to handle the ball by passing, dribbling, and shooting<\/span><\/li>
      • Commitment: Players come to practice and give 100% effort when there.<\/span><\/li>
      • Position: A player\u2019s strength in a particular position may be a factor when assigning teams or double-rostering, especially for keepers.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
